Home / Carbon Accounting Data Checklist

What data should you prepare for carbon accounting?

A carbon calculation needs more than a total number. First define the organization, activities and period being assessed. Gather activity records with consistent units and retain their sources. Identify which calculation method and emission factors are suitable before estimating emissions.

A simple relationship is activity quantity multiplied by a compatible emission factor. For illustration only, 1,200 kWh multiplied by an invented factor of 0.4 kg CO2e per kWh gives 480 kg CO2e. This factor is not a national electricity factor and must not be used for operational reporting.

A preparation checklist should include activity description, quantity, unit, period, location, source document, factor source and version, calculation boundary and assumptions. Missing data should remain visible. Review completeness and factor relevance before aggregating results.

QuantaESG, with Reflexion Group as a major partner, welcomes enquiries about carbon-accounting priorities. The example explains a calculation principle and does not demonstrate a released product or a complete inventory.
